Admission and Recruitment Testing

The internationally known Institute of Psychological and Educational Measurement (IPEM), is an autonomous, non-profit, registered organization engaged in educational measurement and psychometric research for the purpose of student and personnel recruitment for the past two decades.  IPEM is one of the largest non-government testing agencies in the country. IPEM is an ETS Certified Test Administration Site (CTAS), to deliver ETS - Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) and   ETS - Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

IPEM’s tests have earned high credibility for providing professional and secure admission & recruitment testing services to colleges, universities and corporations since 1979. We have a highly dedicated team of research scholars, reputed experts in the field of educational and psychological measurement and subject teachers spread across the country that jointly develop ‘tailor made’ examinations to suit the requirements of the test users. Our test items are custom designed to accurately help evaluate particular aptitude or traits required in a candidate for a particular job or course of study.

For more information about our domestic testing services please see our "domestic testing service" section on this website.

ITEM AND TEST EVALUATION :

As an important part of the test development exercise, the items or questions incorporated in a test undergo severe evaluation. Firstly, after receiving the items from trained item-writers, the items pass through the judgement of subject experts who cheek the content, language and structure of each item. The items are then pre-tested on a small group for purpose of identifying ambiguities left, if any, for checking their difficulty level and identifying strong and weak distractors through a simple yet sophisticated software on item analysis developed by the EDP section of IPEM. Thus, this exercise helps in arriving at appropriate items for a particular test. After the test administration, various other properties of a test for e.g., test reliability and validity are determined.

Question Bank Software

IPEM's Infotech division and R&D division has jointly developed a scalable question banking software which enables testing agencies to save their question banks securely in electronic format and create tests using the same. The software remembers when a question was last used and also stores the discrimation, and differential values of questions along with time required, marks, difficulty level. It is also capable of storing images, symbols and mathematical equations with questions. This software will is available for commercial sale.

GUIDANCE COUNSELLING :

The individual needs expert help for optimum achievement and adequate adjustment in varied life situation. The student life is getting more complex day by day. The Institute of Psychological and Educational Measurement (IPEM) has felt the need and importance of guidance and counselling for students. IPEM’s Counselling Center is playing a very important role in the overall development of the child. The Counselling Center is headed by  a  professionally qualified counsellor working in this field for the last ten years. Any individual who finds difficulty in dealing with the situation relating to his/her educational, social and personal life can contact the counsellor at the IPEM.

The period when the child is in school is most crucial for the development of his potentialities and capacities. It is during this period that the skills and abilities are developing, interests, attitudes and habits are being formed and social and emotional adjustments are taking place. Guidance-both adjustive and developmental is needed at the school. Parents have neither the time nor the professional know-how to deal with the problems of their children. IPEM’s Counselling center provides guidance and counselling in the area of Education, Vocation (Career planning), personal and social.

(1) EDUCATION -To make appropriate subject choice. To explore educational    possibilities      beyond their present educational level. Guidance is also given at the crisis points of student’s life.

(2) VOCATION  -Making students aware by disseminating occupational information. Assisting the students in decision making. Enabling students to discover information about themselves. Tests are also used for this purpose.

(3)   SOCIAL    - This area covers the problem students face in social relationships.

- Students face many personal problems related to themselves, their parents, friends, siblings, their education and social adjustment.
