Uniform Clarrification

Dear Parents,
We have received a few queries/doubts about the newly introduced winter uniform which we would like to clarify:

All schools typically have two uniforms: A regular uniform with black shoes worn from Monday to Friday, PLUS a Saturday/house uniform, which typically consists of a house T-shirt, white pants, and house-coded shoes. During winter there are add-ons of sweaters/blazers/full shirts.

Previously, IPEM International School also had two uniforms: 1. A regular school uniform for daily use which comprised a shirt, Pant/Skirt or Salwar suit, and black shoes |PLUS| 2. A house-colored uniform, worn on Saturdays and during sports. During winter there were add-ons of sweaters/blazers/full shirts.

Today also, we still have ONLY TWO UNIFORMS, however, the difference is that they have been only bifurcated into summer and winter uniforms.

SUMMER UNIFORM: The previous Saturday/house uniform has been designed for daily wear on all the days of the week, during summer due to the hot weather, as it is most comfortable for that season. To make the uniform more practical and comfortable during the hot season, we have removed the need for a tie and belt in summer. The summer uniform is hence designed with a relaxed fit to be cooler and more comfortable than the standard shirt, pants/ skirts with a belt and tie. We have intentionally included full-length relaxed lowers in the summer uniform for boys and girls of all classes (instead of skirts or shorts) to help protect against dengue-carrying mosquitoes, which are most prevalent from July to October and tend to bite exposed areas of the legs.

WINTER UNIFORM: The regular school uniform with tie belt and shoes, which was previously worn from Monday to Friday throughout the year in past, has been redesigned to be worn daily (Mon-Sat) only during the winter season, with the option of a sweater or blazer.

To better understand please see the table below which illustrates this:

Therefore, like in past years, there are still just two uniforms, and the only difference is that parents don't have to buy both uniforms together at the start of the year in April. This helps reduce the burden on parents of purchasing two uniforms simultaneously in April, plus reduces the extra cost of purchasing half shirts/kurtas during summer and full sleeve shirts/kurtas during winter.

Over the years, we received many suggestions from parents about updating our school uniforms to make them more comfortable according to the weather conditions and seasons, practical, modern, colour-neutral and smarter. Therefore, based on this feedback of our parents the uniform has been bifurcated as per the 2 seasons without any significant addition.

This change in the school uniform has been made for the first time in 20 years since the school started, and we don’t intend to make any changes in the near future.
