Christmas Celebration
Tuesday, 17 Sep 2013 14:20
Almost all the students at the IPEM International School eagerly look forward to Christmas. At IPEM, Christmas celebrations extend over an entire week, and the students are able to enjoy themselves to the fullest. Moreover, the Christmas celebrations mark the beginning of the winter vacations, which follow immediately after.

The school’s pre-primary students dressed up as various characters from the nativity scene, depicting the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. We had not only Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus but also the angels, wise men, shepherds, sheep, camels, etc. The effort put into the costumes was remarkable. In keeping with the Christmas tradition, Santa Claus visited their classrooms, spreading cheer and distributing gifts.

Our primary school children made Christmas cards and decorations as part of the craft work for Christmas, and these were used to decorate the Christmas tree. The hard work put in by the students was commendable, with the entire school and the Christmas tree being adorned with these ornaments.

The middle school and Class IX students put up an 18-foot Christmas tree, which took centre stage and became the most popular attraction among all. This tree was decorated with ornaments made by the primary school students. Moreover, the school was colourfully decorated with streamers, balloons, and bells, creating an atmosphere that spread the Christmas cheer all around. To add to the festivities, Santa Claus distributed sweets and goodies among all the students, while in the background, carols were heard in every corridor.

On the last day of school, before we closed for the winter vacations, the school invited “Israel,” a gospel rock band, to sing out to the students the true meaning of Christmas. Their foot tapping Christmas rock songs and carols had everyone enthralled. The students also took part in the singing by playing and singing some carols. The week-long celebrations brought the joy of the festive season not only to the hearts of the students but also to the staff members.

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
For loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
Like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself.
