All Allahabad Carol Competition
Tuesday, 17 Sep 2013 14:21
Every year, in the weeks before Christmas, Allahabad hosts one of the most-awaited music events in the city: the All Allahabad Carol Competition. Choirs from various institutions and schools participate in this carol singing festival to mark the beginning of the Christmas season. Traditionally, this annual competition is held on the first Saturday of December at the All Saints’ Cathedral, Allahabad.

On December 5, 2009, students from the IPEM International School were present in full strength, with both Hindi and English choirs comprising more than twenty students each. The English choir’s beautiful rendition of “Oh! Holy Night” was acknowledged by many to be among the best performances. Not far behind, the Hindi choir’s “Koi Chamka Sitara” composed by Mr. Samson Singh, our choir master, received a resounding applause. In addition, our teachers also participated in this event and sang another original composition by Mr. Samson Singh.

We would like to congratulate our students and staff members for their outstanding performance and for winning the trophy for the best overall performance in all categories. The other schools that participated in the All Allahabad Carol Competition were BHS, GHS, SJC, and SJA.

“Music is the greatest communication in the world. Even if people don’t understand the language that you're singing in, they still know good music when they hear it.” - Lou Rawls
